In late September and early October, we held our annual campaign encouraging employees to donate to Community Shares of Wisconsin and their local United Way. The campaign, called Unite for Our Communities, is a time of giving, volunteering and fun company events.

This year, the big news was employees’ incredible generosity, which resulted in an 18% increase in donations from 2021. Combined with Ascendium’s four-to-one match of employee donations, total donations came to over $157,000, all of which will support the following organizations in positively impacting their communities.

  • Community Shares of Wisconsin
  • Greater Twin Cities United Way
  • Portage Area United Way
  • Shawano Area United Way
  • United Way of Central Indiana
  • United Way of Central Oklahoma
  • United Way of Dane County
  • United Way of Northeastern South Dakota
  • United Way of Sheboygan County
  • United Way St. Croix Valley

Not only were Ascendium employees generous with their resources, but they were also generous with their time. Throughout September and early October, 42 employees helped 11 nonprofits using paid volunteer time off. Together, these employees volunteered a total of 120 hours.

"Volunteering is meaningful to me because I know I am helping my community, even in a small way," said Jaime, who, with fellow employees, spent a morning packing lunches at the River Food Pantry. “So many people have food insecurities. If I can help get meals out to them so they have one less worry, then it’s really rewarding."
